Steven Tyler

Steven TylerAfter spending time on the Boston club circuit under the guidance of their manager at first, Frank Connelly, the band began working with New York managers Steve Leber and David Krebs. They then signed a recording deal in 1972 and released their eponymous debut album in 1973. The album was later followed by Get Your Wings and Toys in the Attic and Rocks. It brought Aerosmith worldwide fame and recognition. These albums had iconic hits such as "Dream on", "Walk This Way", and "Sweet Emotion". Aerosmith's first five albums have been multi-platinum in all of them, and Toys in the Attic and Rocks are thought to be among the top hard rock albums ever made. But, as the decade wore on the frantic pace of touring, recording sharing a home, and consuming substances began to take its toll on the group. In their notorious use drugs and stimulants, Tyler and Perry were sometimes referred to as the Toxic Twins. Their relationship is well documented in numerous Aerosmith's video releases and in the Aerosmith Behind the Music. Tyler seemed more committed to Aerosmith than Perry and had a resentment of Perry for his indifferent attitude. He also envied Perry's prioritization of women in his life. Aerosmith's steady decline is likely due to the tension between Tyler and Perry and their once-friendly friends.
